What Is Leadership Coaching and How Can It Transform Your Career?

Do you want more out of your career? You know you’re a high performer but there’s a voice inside of you that constantly tells you you’re not good enough or not doing the right things. Your boss tells you you’re doing all the right things but it’s just not your time for that big promotion. This is where Leadership Coaching shines!

The International Coaching Federation defines coaching as a transformative journey where you discover your true potential. This is a great definition but seems a little sterile so I’ll try to summarize what it meant to me in my career.

Coaching unlocked an inner confidence I didn’t know was missing and freed me to focus on the most impactful aspects of my career which led to greater trust with my organization, more responsibility, and ultimately coveted promotions I had been passed over for in the past. Coaching amplified my confidence, empowering me to zero in on what truly mattered in my career. This, in turn, cultivated greater trust, responsibilities, and the promotions that had previously eluded me.

Coaching is often confused with mentoring and therapy. While there are certainly some grey areas, there are distinct differences in their focus and purpose:
  • Mentoring: Focus on guidance from experienced individuals, often within a specific field.
  • Therapy: Focus on healing past traumas or addressing mental health concerns.
  • Coaching: Focus on future-oriented goal setting, skill development, and unlocking potential.
Leadership coaching builds confidence and provides clarity, especially for those in transition or stepping into greater responsibility. As your coach, I am invested in you and walk alongside you in your journey. I’m not a cheerleader, I’m a thought partner. I remind you of your values, help you to refocus on goals that matter, and help you develop confidence to purposely build your career.

When we work together, you will set the agenda for your coaching journey. Here are some core principles many people find useful to get the most out of your coaching.
  • Goal Setting and Vision
    • We will identify and articulate your professional and personal goals. We will create a clear vision for your career and leadership journey.
  • Self-Awareness and Strengths
    • We will gain an understanding of your leadership style, strengths, and areas for development. More broadly, coaching facilitates self-discovery.
  • Accountability and Action
    • I will provide support and hold you accountable. We will make sure we translate insights into actionable steps.
I firmly believe that ANYONE, and I mean anyone, can benefit from coaching. I am trained to work with anyone in any career field. Here are some groups I feel particularly passionate about helping:

Veterans Transitioning to Civilian Roles

As a veteran myself, I understand the challenges of translating military skills, building new networks, and adapting to corporate culture. Veterans often struggle with gaining clarity on their transferable skills and finding purpose in a new industry. I will help you transition and find purpose.

Faith Leaders

Leadership training is a hot topic of conversation in corporate America; however, faith leaders often get left behind. Leading a church or ministry presents many challenges not necessarily seen in the corporate world. A faith leader must develop a strong leadership presence and strategic thinking while also ensuring they are shepherding their flock. My faith and vast leadership experience uniquely positions me to help you respond to God's calling.

Professionals Seeking Career Advancement

Career advancement doesn’t happen by accident. Breaking through plateaus, developing executive presence, and enhancing decision-making requires deliberate planning. You have all this inside you, I will help you unlock your potential!

Coaching empowers individuals to trust their abilities and take on new challenges. I believe that you have the talent and knowledge inside you already to succeed in your career. I will work with you to untap that hidden potential and inspire a new level of confidence that you didn’t know you had.

How do we accomplish this? Through clarity. You will gain a clear understanding of your personal values, career direction, and decision-making processes.

This isn’t as simple as it sounds! A lot of us have an unconscious bias toward what we think our goals and values should be but other people’s opinions don’t always line up neatly with our actual journey.

Values can change, goals might change. This is all OK as long as we’re aware and directing our own path.

When we connect professional endeavors with a deeper sense of meaning and fulfillment, our jobs feel less like “work” and we free ourselves to operate with passion and excitement!

Joining clients on this journey is what inspired me to pursue coaching certification. I feel honored to be part of your journey. Each client and conversation is unique and energizes me!

I have been stuck in my career with no idea how to advance; my coach helped unlock a potential in me that I never knew was there. This is exactly why I want to work with you, my motivation is to help you realize the success you deserve.

My passion for coaching and personalized approach to each client yields tangible results. We will ride a roller coaster of emotions together as we overcome obstacles holding you back. I’m on this journey with you and committed to your success.

To summarize, this is what you can expect from your coaching with me:
  • Unlock Inner Confidence and Potential
  • Clarity in Goals and Vision
  • Enhanced Self-Awareness
  • Accountability and Actionable Steps
  • Bring Meaning to Professional Endeavors with Meaning

Imposter Syndrome in Veteran Leaders: Why High Achievers Doubt Themselves Most

"Am I too late? Am I good enough?" Those were the questions  Christian Saluna , a Marine veteran, asked himself when considering college at an  Ivy League university . His concerns aren't unique—they're the signature questions of  imposter syndrome , and they're remarkably common among veterans transitioning to  civilian leadership roles . Here's what you need to know: if you're feeling like a fraud despite objective evidence of your competence, you're not defective. You're dealing with a documented psychological phenomenon that affects up to 70% of people at some point in their lives. And counterintuitively,  the more successful you are, the more likely you are to experience it. The Data on Imposter Syndrome: It's More Common Than You Think A 2024  Korn Ferry study  found that 71% of  U.S. CEOs  and 65% of other senior executives reported experiencing imposter syndrome. Read that again:  nearly three-quarters of CEOs—people at th...

Building Unshakeable Confidence After Military Service: The Science Behind Self-Efficacy

You commanded troops. You executed complex operations. You made decisions that mattered. So why does walking into a civilian job interview feel like you're the least qualified person in the room? That disconnect isn't weakness—it's what psychologists call a confidence gap . And here's what you need to know: confidence isn't something you either have or don't have. It's something you build, systematically, using proven methods. Let's look at what the research actually says. The Confidence Paradox: Why Your Military Experience Isn't Enough Research from Bandura's self-efficacy theory —tested across decades of studies—shows that confidence is domain-specific. You can be supremely confident leading a patrol in hostile territory while simultaneously doubting your ability to navigate a corporate org chart.  This isn't contradictory. It's normal. A 2024 study published in the Journal of Adolescent and Youth Psychological Studies found that self...

Performance Coaching for Veterans: Unlocking Peak Leadership with Faith and Accountability

Here's a sobering reality: Peak performance eludes 65% of transitioning veterans without structured accountability , according to research from the Department of Defense Transition Assistance Program (2022). Not because you lack ability—you proved your capability under conditions most civilians will never face. You're struggling because the accountability systems that drove your military performance don't exist in civilian life. In the military, performance was non-negotiable. You had clear standards, regular assessments, a chain of command holding you accountable. Civilian work? Vague annual reviews, optional development plans, and a culture that tolerates mediocrity. For high-performers like you, this is disorienting and demotivating. This post shows you how faith-integrated performance coaching bridges military discipline to civilian excellence. You'll learn specific tools to track progress, crush inner barriers, and lead at the level you were designe...
